Washed Out

Protruding out of The Adult Swim Singles Project, comes a track by none other than Washed Out featuring Caroline Polachek. As expected, Ernest Greene has released another song that is on the same level as the now infamous "Feel It All Around". The only difference is the noticibly darker tone and addition of Polachek's beautiful vocals. Take time and soak in the spectacular music and video.

Porcelain Raft LIVE

London's Porcelain Raft has been under my music radar for the past few weeks. The release of their latest EP Gone Blind was very much needed. The sound is a perfect addition to any playlist when you are not feeling so fresh. When listening it is very easy to drift off into the dream-like sound and find yourself just thinking. The video below was made by a fan and it is very creative and thought out. I also added my personal favorite song of the EP "Tip of Your Tongue" as a bonus track.

mat cothran

Once you are ready to take a break from the dubstep movement, please place your eyes and ears on Mat Cothran, aka Coma Cinema. Cothran released a new album titled "Stoned Alone" on June 1st and it is chock full of powerful lyrics and deep movement. This is not the first time the South Carolinian has shown up on this blog, and it will not be the last. Along with the release of the album, there was a video for "Only". Which is one of the stronger songs to come with the release. Feel the music with your soul.

Munk

It is rare when you encounter true dancefloor gold, luckily for you today is one of those days. After almost two years, Munk has finally released a new single and the world is roaring! Mark my words, "La Musica" will be a summer club banger and will make music blogs everywhere explode. Accompanying the release are remixes by Shir Khan, Mercury, Tiago, and more.

microclinic ep

It is a well known truism that music is an escape from everyday life. Based out of Milano, Italy, Microclinic brings the chillwave movement to another level. The sound is well founded and very thought out. Microclinic's EP titled "Shield" was released earlier this month and has been the center of my attention since. Two songs stand out. Both "Shield" and "My Days" show great promise. I am excited to see what the future holds. The video below depicts a seemingly perfect beach scene that was filmed using vintage cameras.

active child

Master of the trodlodytic sound Lonely Galaxy(UK) was recently remixed by none other than Active Child. The video is nothing less than powerful. This feeling is only heightened by the luxuriant remix at the hands of the Los Angeles based artist. Sit down, collect yourself, and enjoy.

Photobucket

If you have not had the pleasure of hearing about the astonishing one-man-band, Chazwick Bundick aka Toro y Moi then let me be the first to introduce you. The most notable fact about Bundick is his involvement in his Pop/Disco House side project Les Sins, which I prefer over Toro. The video posted below is of a Ferrari traversing through streets of Paris in 1978. Ironically, this video excells over the official video for "Talamak" posted a few months after.

The ubiquity of music posted on the internet can be extensive and a bit overwhelming at times. It can very hard to sift through it all and find a genuinely good sound. I have been fond of Coma Cinema for a very long time. Their sound instills hope and the feeling that "love happens all the time". Their demo, Baby Prayers, was released on January, 01 2009. The video for "Flower Pill" was created by Mat Cothran a full year later.

Coma Cinema also planned for the release of their next EP titled, Stoned Alone on June 01, 2010. Personally, I think it's a birthday present for me and all other Geminis. Baby Prayers is up for download on the bands website here. As always, enjoy the downloads below and be safe.

Feel the Cosmic Wave

Some days you need to relax. I am a strict believer that music is one of the catalysts a person needs in order to achieve this. Coyote Clean Up delivers a sound like no other and their videos are on another level that transcends regular thought. This song/video is near and dear to my heart. The song was realeased off their most recent album titled, Double Trouble on Afternoons Modeling. There is also a link to download the song at the bottom of the video.

can't shake the full moon - Coyote Clean Up

Another thing that surprised me is that Coyote Clean Up has also taken up DJ'ing. The set they released is very refreshing and personally, I would suggest driving to it as the sun is setting. Just sayin'.

Andy Richardson, aka Blac Lov is based out of Austin, TX. The best part about his music is that everything is recorded with vintage instruments and tapes. Which adds a wonderful effect His sound can best be described as what he calls "tape-step". After a few phone calls, and dramatic persuasion I managed to convince him to let me do an interview:

BLAC LOV

ASL?
18,male,high as shit.

What is the story behind your band name?
I was in Hastings (Texas) once when I was thirteen and I was looking at incense shop. I found this fragrance called black love. It smelled really fucking good. So, immediately I thought that if I ever were to have a musical project in the future i would call myself black love. Two years passed and I took the "E' and "K" off of it. That's the story morning glory.

What image do you believe your music conveys?
I'm really hard into garage rock. But someone once told me it sounds like music people get really stoned to. Hmm.

Who/What is your musical influences?
Orinoka Crash Suite

Are you currently signed to a record label?
Yes. Currently Trembleface/Sanddagger. Great dudes.

Thinking back, what has been your strong influence to continue performing?
Probably the fact that music is the only thing I can do selflessly, you know?

Do you have a demo, EP, or any other promotional material?
Currently I have an ep released on the Trembleface website. It's free and short. But that is all. I will release more later on.

What are your immediate goals as an artist?
I just want to live man, and have fun. But that sounds dumb, so I wanna fuck alot of shit up. All the time. How about that huh?

Could you describe your music making process?
Uh. I don't rememeber it.

Blac Lov is currently signed to the indie label Trembledace/Sanddagger. You can download his EP titled, Tripping the Garbage Forest, here. My personal favorite song from his EP and a bonus song from prior work are up for download below. Happy listening.

Memoryhouse seizes to amaze me. The track/video that I bring you today is a remix of "Hey Cool Kid" by Cloud Nothings. The Canadian Duo managed to produce a sound that is on the opposite end of the originals sound curve. The video is not as visually stunning as most that I watch, but it is so abstract that it catches the viewers attention.

As always enjoy the download.

Let's Get Cold Together

>> Sunday, May 9, 2010

One of my biggest pet peeves is when I encounter an artist that should be signed to a label, but is not. Memoryhouse is a clear example of this. They are based out of Guelph, a beautiful town just 100 kilometres west of Toronto. It comes as no surprise that such a comforting sound would come from Canada. I encountered this video through one of my many late nights searching the internet for something to arouse my ears and was not let down. You can also download the track at the bottom of the post. Enjoy! :^D
