Last summer <a href="twinshadow.net">Twin Shadow</a> was no mystery to this. Any soul that feels emotion can be brought in with the deep, melancholy lyrics and voice of George Lewis. The catalyst for this post was not also to appreciate the works of Twins Shadows, but also to showcase a remix to "Slow" by none other than <a href= "www.myspace.com/vanrivers">Van Rivers</a>. Life comes from all directions and I had to handle things. But enough with excuses, lets get to the music. If you (just like me) thought disco was an old relic from the 80's that was never due for a comeback, you guessed incorrectly. Every artist from likes of Fred Falke, Titsworth, and even Le Castle Vania have all begun expressing inter<span class="Apple-style-span" >est in the production of old disco beats with modern twists. This is something that I have not been very keen on</span>. Especially since I believe the past should stay well, in the past. That was until this little gem struck my ears. Without further adieu, I introduce to you <a href="www.facebook.com/codesmusic">Codes</a>. A disco/house artist that was recently signed to <a href="www.slowroastrecs.com">Slow Roast Records</a>. If this is his beginning work, then I can only be exited for what is to come of Brooklyn's newcomer. The release of their latest EP Gone Blind was very much needed. The sound is a perfect addition to any playlist when you are not feeling so fresh. When listening it is very easy to drift off into the dream-like sound and find yourself just thinking. The video below was made by a fan and it is very creative and thought out. I also added my personal favorite song of the EP "<strong>Tip of Your Tongue</strong>" as a bonus track.<br /><br /><center><object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/J2JRjXwRaUI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/J2JRjXwRaUI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></center><br /><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?4dzlm2lmyrm">Porcelain Raft - Talk To Me </a><br /><br /><strong>Bonus Track</strong>:<br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?5zwgd4jngwy">Porcelain Raft - Tip of Your Tongue</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-753727328079280701.post-26801892937471395702010-06-05T09:30:00.000-07:002010-06-05T10:04:03.834-07:00Sprawling Expanses<img border="0" alt="mat cothran" src="http://i794.photobucket.com/albums/yy224/WonderFlush/Mat-Cothran-Image-Two.jpg" /><br /><br />Once you are ready to take a break from the dubstep movement, please place your eyes and ears on Mat Cothran, aka <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.comacinema.com">Coma Cinema</a>. Cothran released a new album titled "<strong>Stoned Alone</strong>" on June 1st and it is chock full of powerful lyrics and deep movement. This is not the first time the South Carolinian has shown up on this blog, and it will not be the last. Along with the release of the album, there was a video for "<strong>Only</strong>". Based out of Milano, Italy, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/microclinic">Microclinic</a> brings the chillwave movement to another level. The sound is well founded and very thought out. Microclinic's EP titled "Shield" was released earlier this month and has been the center of my attention since. Two songs stand out. Both "Shield" and "My Days" show great promise. The best part about his music is that everything is recorded with vintage instruments and tapes. Which adds a wonderful effect His sound can best be described as what he calls "tape-step". Great dudes.<br /><br /><strong>Thinking back, what has been your strong influence to continue performing?<br /></strong>Probably the fact that music is the only thing I can do selflessly, you know?<br /><br /><strong>Do you have a demo, EP, or any other promotional material?<br /></strong>Currently I have an ep released on the Trembleface website. It's free and short. But that is all. I will release more later on.<br /><br /><strong>What are your immediate goals as an artist?<br /></strong>I just want to live man, and have fun. But that sounds dumb, so I wanna fuck alot of shit up. All the time. How about that huh?<br /><br /><strong>Could you describe your music making process?<br /></strong>Uh. I don't rememeber it.<br /></span><br /><br />Blac Lov is currently signed to the indie label <a href="http://tremblefacesanddagger.bandcamp.com/">Trembledace/Sanddagger</a>. You can download his EP titled, Tripping the Garbage Forest, <a href="http://tremblefacesanddagger.bandcamp.com/album/tripping-the-garbage-forest-ep/">here</a>. The track/video that I bring you today is a remix of "Hey Cool Kid" by <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.myspace.com/cloudnothings">Cloud Nothings</a>. The Canadian Duo managed to produce a sound that is on the opposite end of the originals sound curve. The video is not as visually stunning as most that I watch, but it is so abstract that it catches the viewers attention.<br /><br /><center><object width="400" height="300"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=10760224&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=&fullscreen=1"><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=10760224&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=&fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="300"></embed></object></center><br /><p></p>As always enjoy the download.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?jmyw3xtxizu">Hey Cool Kid(Memoryhouse Remix)- Cloud Nothings</a><br /><br />Bonus Track:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?m4mzrzxzl1z">Hey Cool Kid - Cloud Nothings</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-753727328079280701.post-24823726293985041272010-05-09T18:36:00.000-07:002010-05-09T19:17:04.485-07:00Let's Get Cold TogetherOne of my biggest pet peeves is when I encounter an artist that should be signed to a label, but is not. <a href="http://www.myspace.com/wearememoryhouse">Memoryhouse</a> is a clear example of this. They are based out of Guelph, a beautiful town just 100 kilometres west of Toronto. It comes as no surprise that such a comforting sound would come from Canada. I encountered this video through one of my many late nights searching the internet for something to arouse my ears and was not let down. You can also download the track at the bottom of the post. Enjoy! :^D<br /><br /><br /><center><object width="580" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LLLY0j-lU8s&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LLLY0j-lU8s&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="580" height="360"></embed></object></centeR><br /><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?nqmjnjmuyul">Bonfire - Memoryhouse</a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-753727328079280701.post-58502763980445625302010-05-08T14:09:00.000-07:002010-05-14T16:51:16.918-07:00Anthem of the Summer<center><object width="580" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4DA4VByZ6yg&hl=en_US&fs=1&hd=1&border=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4DA4VByZ6yg&hl=en_US&fs=1&hd=1&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="580" height="360"></embed></object></center><div align="left"><br /><span style="font-family:georgia;">Lately I have been all about tape music, and experimental sounds. This video speaks volumes to me.
